8. Chemical Bonding

Chemical bonding explains how atoms join together to form molecules and compounds. Atoms combine mainly to achieve a stable electronic configuration, usually by completing eight electrons in their outer shell, known as the octet rule. This can happen either by transfer of electrons or by sharing of electrons between atoms.

In this lesson, students learn about the two main types of bonds: ionic bonds and covalent bonds. Ionic bonds are formed by the transfer of electrons from one atom to another, while covalent bonds are formed when atoms share electrons. Understanding chemical bonding helps explain the structure, properties, and behavior of different substances used in everyday life, from salt and water to medicines and materials. ⚗️
