8. Introduction to Trigonometry

Trigonometry is a branch of mathematics that studies the relationship between the angles and sides of a right-angled triangle. In this chapter, students learn about the basic trigonometric ratios such as sine (sin), cosine (cos), and tangent (tan), which relate the angles of a triangle to the lengths of its sides.

The chapter also introduces reciprocal trigonometric ratios and important trigonometric identities, which help simplify calculations and solve problems. Students learn the standard values of trigonometric ratios for special angles like 0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°. Understanding trigonometry is essential for solving problems related to geometry, heights and distances, engineering, navigation, and many scientific applications.
